Real Estate Brokers vs. Property Managers

So you have a rental home and you have a willing real estate broker that has offered to lease or manage your home - sounds like a no-brainer, right? Wrong!

Our real estate and rental markets are very strong in the Triangle. With minimal advertising, homes seem to lease quickly as more and more people are moving to the Raleigh area. Because of this, we have seen a growing trend of real estate agents assisting their clients with the leasing and management of their investment properties.

Although they have great intentions, real estate brokers are not usually experts in landlord/tenant laws, security deposit/trust account guidelines, Fair Debt Collecting laws and other laws directly affecting leasing and management of rental homes in the Raleigh area. They also lack the experience and means to thoroughly screen tenants prior to leasing your home. This can lead to problem tenants, renting nightmares and even legal problems down the road.
